• Texas– The Rangers are also very solid everywhere. One concern could be their rotation. Alexi Ogando has been good, All-Star good in fact, but Ogando could have his innings capped in an effort to save his arm, or he could be moved to the bullpen for the same reason. The Rangers have not been lights out with the bullpen, so they might move Ogando there and acquire another starter. They have been mauled a bit by injuries with Brandon Webb on the 60-day disabled list, and for that matter Webb hasn’t pitched at all this year.
• Possible Scenarios– One, acquire a starter like an Aaron Harang or Jeff Francis type. They need a guy who can eat some innings and get to the 8th or 9th so Neftali Feliez can shut it down and save the bullpen a bit. They could also go with what they have and put Ogando in the pen and Tommy Hunter in the rotation. Ubaldo Jimenez is a potential target, but Texas would probably have to give Colorado everything and the kitchen sink. Texas might dangle Tommy Hunter or Scott Feldman to get Jimenez. Both can start but are currently in Texas’s pen. If Jimenez can pitch effectively in Colorado, why not in Texas?
