The defending world champions have added another piece to their pursuit of back-to-back titles. The Giants picked up infielder Jeff Keppinger to help them out.
Keppinger, 31, who can play all four infielder positions, will likely help them at second where Freddy Sanchez has been on the DL since June 10th with a dislocated shoulder.
They had previously signed former Astro Bill Hall to help at second, but he is on the DL along with Sanchez.
Keppinger could also spell rookie Brandon Crawford at shortstop where the rookie is hitting a .197 clip.
Keppinger hit .307 with 4 homers and 20 runs batted in 43 games for Houston.
