- 10
The number of hits allowed by David Price in 2.1 innings pitched. Price struggled in his last start against the Yankees, and had yet another rough outing on Wednesday.
- Eight
Price also allowed eight runs (all earned). This sunk the Tigers as well as Price owners in fantasy leagues.
- Zero
The number of runs allowed by Detroit relievers Tom Gorzelanny, Joba Chamberlain and Ian Krol. This is a positive as all three will be heavily relied on down the stretch for the Tigers—especially with Joe Nathan being ruled out for the season.
- 30
The number of pitches seen by Tigers leadoff hitter Anthony Gose. Gose didn’t have a hit, but reached base on a walk and scored a run. The fact that he taxed opposing pitchers for a game-high 30 pitches is a good sign.
- 28
Price’s ERA following the start. Normally starters’ ERAs balloon after bad starts, Price is so good that his ERA ballooned to an extremely respectable number.
